Last night's Fourth of July celebrations in the U.S.A were marked by fireworks and music. Saw the one in Boston on TV.
When I was still in New Jersey, I lived in a place called Sayreville and one Fourth of July, I remember sitting and watching the fireworks at a huge park where there was a lake, about a ten minute walk from my apartment.
And previous to that, in Jersey City, I would sometimes see the fireworks somewhere in New York City from the window of the high rise apartment where I lived.
Fireworks have always been fascinating to most of us. A trip to Disney would not be complete if you don't get to see the parade and fireworks at the Main St.
Watching it and listening to the music accompanying it is truly magical. You are taken into a reverie..to a dream where you can create your own story peopled by the character(s) you want to be and to be with - the Snow White or Cinderella of your life, a Prince Charming, the goofy or zany person you wish you were or you're in your favorite Planet of Arrakis.
Once lighted and shooting up the sky, the sparks create those multi-colored, multi-dimensional shapes and illusions. Mushrooms falling down, castles erecting and crumbling, stars and suns circling in and out. Tears cascading down. Rains and rainbows.
The sparks are lighted and glow far into in the dark sky. They rule the darkness.
Fireworks always signify celebration. That's why after a big win, the question to the winner is, "where are you going?" The answer has always been: "To Disney."
There's always growing excitement and nervous anticipation for beautiful things to come in our lives. And the celebration can always be Disney-like. No matter where it will be.
Addendum: The last time I was in Disneyworld (Orlando) was in 2004, and have forgotten every ride I took there.
